Microdosing Magic Truffles (Part 2)

Welcome to the second part of our blog on microdosing Magic Truffles (click for Part 1). In this second part we will discuss what you need and how you can microdose. We conclude with a section about uses and risks.

What do I need?

Microdosing is quite easy to try, you only need a few things:

-Fresh Magic Truffles
-Something to grind the truffles, for example the Magic Truffle Grinder
-A scale, preferably one that measures in grams and displays at least two decimals. A gold scale is ideal.
-Some empty capsules.

Grind the Magic Truffles and weigh them. Fill the empty capsules with equal amounts of Magic Truffles, for example a gram or half a gram. Keep the capsules in the refrigerator. Check the expiration date of your Magic Truffles, often this is about one month. The shelf life of your capsules is the same as for the Magic Truffles themselves. Do not store your capsules in the freezer, as they will lose their effect.

How do I dose?

A recreational dose of fresh Magic Truffles is somewhere between 5 and 15 grams, depending on your body weight. For a microdosis you take 1/20 to 1/10 of this. Based on 10 grams of fresh truffles, a microdose amounts to 0.5 to 1 gram of fresh truffles. You can adjust this dose downwards based on the effects. If you notice changes in your visual perception you should take lower doses, if you notice nothing at all you can take a higher dose. Most people take a micro dose every third day. A scheme for microdosing could look like this:

Day 1: Microdose
Day 2: No dose
Day 3: No dose
Day 4: Microdose
Day 5: No dose
Day 6: No dose
Day 7: Microdose

It’s pointless to take a (micro)dose daily. Your body builds up tolerance against psilocybin very quickly. If you take daily doses, the Magic Truffles will have no effect at all within one or two days.

Use and risks

Dr. Fadiman’s protocol (see the header “Why microdose?” in part 1 of this blog) covers a month of regular microdosing. Some people continue to microdose after this month, others stop. A third group chooses to microdose at specific times.

Many people experience positive effects of microdosing. In the research conducted by Dr. Fadiman, however, there were also a handful of people who reported uncomfortable effects, specifically “sweating” and “being too emotional”. If there are any side effects that you experience as unpleasant, we advise you to stop microdosing. In addition to this, when you know that you have a higher risk of developing psychoses, we strongly advice against the use of microdoses. Using any psychoactive substance is never one hundred percent risk-free. If you want to avoid any risks, do not take microdoses.
